Assistant Manager - Textile Marketing

Job: The incumbent will be a deputy to the Manager — Textile Marketing and will be responsible for sales, promotion and marketing of textile fabrics of African prints across Tanzania and in neighbouring countries. The job entails extensive travelling and hands-on approach.
Person: We are looking for a graduate (preferably a Diploma in Sales) with effective communication skills and perseverance. Fluency in Swahili and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in African traditional clothing like Khanga and Kitenge will be preferred.
Manager - Transport

Job: This is essentially a job for a logistics person to head the Transport Division with a fleet of over a thousand heavy, medium and light commercial vehicles.
The Transport Division carries cargo across the length and breadth of Tanzania and to neighbouring countries. It also comprises a central workshop which maintains the vehicles of the Transport Division and also all other company vehicles and has a body-building division.
The incumbent will be responsible for planning, execution and implementing transport orders, optimizing vehicle utilization through use of logistics tools, proper upkeep of the fleet and aggressive marketing. The job also includes monitoring statutory compliance.
The position reports to the Group CEO.
Person: The incumbent will be a logistics person. Technical qualification in automobile or mechanical engineering will be a great advantage.
We are looking for someone with sound knowledge of the region’s roads network and other means of transport and a minimum 15 years’ experience of working in a similar unit.
Assistant Manager - Automobile Workshop

Job: This position is for in-house workshop within the Transport Division of the company and comprises of Engine Room, Gearbox Section, Electrical Section, Fabrication Workshop and General Service Section.
The incumbent will be deputy to the Workshop Manager and will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring smooth operations and maintenance of vehicles, identifying inventory levels, and for efficient storage of spares and equipment. S/he will be responsible for maintaining history of the entire fleet of vehicles.
Person: The incumbent should be at least a Diploma holder in Automobile Engineering and a skilled problem shooter with minimum seven years’ working experience in a similar workshop.
S/he should have sound knowledge of mechanical/electrical problems and solutions of LCV & HCV and possess hands-on experience in transport industry and have exposure to all types of
vehicles (light commercial vehicles three to 10 MT Trucks, semi trailers, inter semi trailers, dump trucks, cranes and forklifts, etc).
Fluency in Swahili, working experience in East Africa and knowledge of Chinese vehicles will be an advantage.
Supervisor — Transport (Logistics)

Job: The applicant will be responsible for checking the movements of vehicles through GPRS tracking systems and verifying with job allocation and maintain daily operational information of the Fleet, S/he will follow up with workshop for vehicles under repair and maintain vehicle history sheets. Person: The applicant should have sound knowledge of logistics management, should be computer savvy, and have hands-on experience. Fluency in Swahili is a must. S/he should have knowledge of regions and routes and should have a brief idea of distance and fuel calculations.

Job: The incumbent will be responsible for market research and buying various crops at reasonable rates from farmers. The position reports to the Head of Exports. The job includes extensive travelling and communication.
Person: The incumbent should be preferably a Graduate or equivalent in agriculture with knowledge of different crops like pulses, cereals, cocoa, sesame seeds, etc. and should be fluent in Swahili.
Chief Security Officer — Group level (CSEO)
Job: The Chief Security Officer will be responsible for the whole gamut of security management of the organization. This will include physical security and use of technology, viz. using relevant security systems and GPRS tracking devices.
S/he will identify critical points of danger, plan a foolproof and strong security layout and execute the same and simultaneously train the guards. Physical protection responsibilities will include asset protection, workplace violence prevention, access control systems, video surveillance etc.
S/he will ensure loss prevention and prevention of fraudulent practices. He will also ensure adherence to relevant statutory laws.
Person: The person should be a graduate or equivalent with exposure to industrial security management for 10 — 15 years. Formal qualification in Industrial Security will be desirable though not compulsory. People with police or army background will be preferred.
Storekeeper

Job: The candidate will be responsible for stores and inventory management comprising receipts and issues.
Person: The candidate should be preferably a graduate or equivalent with knowledge of book keeping and Materials or inventory management. Candidates having knowledge of Tally and fluency in Swahili will be preferred.
Unit Accountant

Job: The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining timely and accurate accounts for a unit. S/he will prepare Profit and Loss Statement, Monthly Balance Sheet, Cash flow / Fund flow Statements and ensure that all statutory accounting is up-to-date.

PACT Tanzania Country Director Job Vacancy in Dar es Salaam
Position Summary:
The Country Director is responsible for the timely and efficient implementation of the Tanzania program.
As Country Director s/he is also responsible for setting strategic directions for and developing the country portfolio which are appropriate to the operating context.
S/he must also ensure that systems are in place and being properly implemented that ensure the proper management, well being and safety of Pact staff and the proper stewardship of resources.
Responsibilities include technical leadership; team management and mentoring; policy advocacy; donor, government and partner liaison; new business development; and oversight of programmatic and financial management and reporting.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Programming
• Oversee country office programming to ensure the effective and efficient delivery and implementation of projects and are in line with Pact's and donors’ standards for program quality.
• Serve as team leader charged with the day-to-day execution of the program; undertake the timely deployment of financial and human resources for program success and attainment of desired results/indicators.
• Generate viable program pipeline in line with Pact strategy and assist in identifying and securing funding for those programs.
• Ensure that proper monitoring and evaluation systems are in place.
• Promote a learning environment within the country office that facilitates two-way learning with various stakeholders.
• Develop and implement an organizational strengthening strategy that increases grantee capacities to monitor, evaluate, deliver and report on services, and that will support their sustainability.
• Identifying and responding to grantee technical assistance needs.
• Coordinate/arrange all technical assistance and training activities under the program.
Grants Management
• Oversee an efficient, transparent grants making process under the program; assure timely and high-quality monitoring of and reporting by subgrantees.
• Oversee the work of the implementing partners and monitor for compliance with subagreements or subcontracts.
Coordination and Collaboration
• Ensure strong cooperation and collaboration with USG partners, USAID/Tanzania, Global Fund, National AIDS Commission, the Government of Tanzania, and other HIV/AIDS partners.
• Coordinate and collaborate with Pact HQ and Pact’s Africa regional staff.
Finance, Administration and IT
• Manage the country office in the assigned country and carry out all administrative and financial operations to support the program.
• Monitor the country office’s financial position and ensure the best use of available resources. This includes overseeing the development and review of country office annual budget, oversight of financial transactions and reports, maximizing cost recovery from restricted grants and review and follow-up on internal and external audit recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with all Pact procedures, applicable USAID standard provisions and other donor requirements.
• Recruitment, supervision, guidance and support of Pact Tanzania staff.
• Submit timely progress and financial reports to USAID and Pact headquarters.
• Set-up financial and monitoring systems for reporting to Pact headquarters and USAID Mission.
• Prepare and submit program progress reports to Pact HQ and USAID/Tanzania. Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly financial reports to Pact HQ.
• Direct the management and accounting of financial, in-kind and other resources in the country office in line with Pact policies and donor requirements.
• Ensure that qualified staff and appropriate policies, procedures and systems for finance and administration functions (e.g. procurement, fleet management, inventory, etc.) are in place and functioning.
• Ensure adequate internal controls are in place to protect the country office’s financial and non-monetary assets and to ensure the resources are used in accordance with donor terms and conditions.
• Ensure the country office operations are conducted in accordance with all statutory and tax requirements.
• Perform other duties, as assigned.
Human Resources
• Oversee the management and development of country office human resources to ensure a diverse, skilled and productive workforce and promote an organizational culture where Pact’s values are practised.
• Provide proper supervision and management for all direct reports and oversee the establishment and functioning of a strong, effective senior leadership team.
• Ensure timely and quality inputs by staff and consultants.
• Ensure strong human resource strategies and systems are in place and are properly implemented in areas such as recruitment, staff development, and performance management.
• Ensure appropriate workplace policies to ensure fairness and equity are developed and used (e.g. policies related to HIV/AIDS, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, etc.)
• Oversee the establishment and regular review of compensation package to ensure competitiveness
• Actively promote staff wellness by monitoring country office climate and staff morale and taking corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure the proper implementation of Pact’s performance management system for direct reports. This can include: proactively addressing performance issues through regular, constructive and honest feedback and coaching and identifying necessary staff development for direct reports.
• Oversee the recruitment and orientation of new senior staff.
• Ensure levels of authority and responsibility are clearly defined, understood and followed within the country office.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of the priorities and procedures of USAID/PEPFAR/Global Fund and other donors, private foundations, bilateral and multi-lateral organizations, and corporate donors a plus
• In-depth understanding of the role of civil society in development and experience in capacity building for civil society organizations
• Proven networking, diplomacy and negotiation skills that demonstrate ability to collaborate and coordinate with a range of stakeholders and to reconcile diverse perspectives in a constructive manner
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain interpersonal and professional relationships with USAID missions, international NGOs, local NGOs/CBOs, and host country government counterparts
• Proven skills in building organizational capacity in HIV/AIDS and/or program and grants management.
• Strong track record of resource mobilization, innovation and new business development, including development of large scale proposals in response to competed opportunities
• Excellent written, oral communication, presentation and representation skills
• Strong general program planning and management skills; solid understanding of and comfort with finance, compliance, and human resource management
• A belief in empowering local staff and demonstrated leadership, team-building, facilitation, and mentoring skills in developing country contexts
• Sensitive in diverse contexts, consultative, decisive, adaptable and proactive
Education and Experience Requirements:
• Graduate degree in public health or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years experience implementing USAID-supported programs in senior management roles
• PEPFAR and Global Fund experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience in community-based HIV/AIDS programming, preferably across prevention, care and treatment interventions; experience of HIV/AIDS programming in concentrated epidemic settings preferred.
• Proven experience navigating complex and high pressure operating environments
• Experience developing and managing multi-sectoral, multi-donor funded program portfolios preferred
• Tanzania experience ideal, Africa experience highly desirable

About the job
As one of several Tour Guides you will be responsible for preparing uniquely tailored tours, for guiding clients on the tours designed for them and for evaluating and developing tours further.
In more detail, it is your responsibility to prepare each tour thoroughly and diligently, including extensive research, making appointments and booking locations and/or equipment. Once the client arrives, you are with the client each day and you serve as the client’s first contact person.
During the stay of the client, you make sure the client has an exceptional experience according to his/her desires. Towards the end of each tour and also immediately afterwards, you ensure a proper evaluation.

About you
Educational background: You are the right person if you have a university degree, preferably in or with an emphasis on history, communications, African politics, development studies, tourism or any other applicable field of studies.
Experience: You are experienced in serving and/or working with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Ideally you have served tourists already, preferably in an African context or in other developing countries. Furthermore it is a must that you can prove experience in and cultural sensitivity for both the Western and the African ways of living.
Skills and competencies: You are highly reliable and flexible. You like planning and organizing and you are experienced in using a computer, MS Office and the internet to do so.

About the job
As one of several Tour Guides you will be responsible for preparing uniquely tailored tours, for guiding clients on the tours designed for them and for evaluating and developing tours further.
In more detail, it is your responsibility to prepare each tour thoroughly and diligently, including extensive research, making appointments and booking locations and/or equipment. Once the client arrives, you are with the client each day and you serve as the client’s first contact person.
During the stay of the client, you make sure the client has an exceptional experience according to his/her desires. Towards the end of each tour and also immediately afterwards, you ensure a proper evaluation.
Depending on your knowledge of the countries mentioned above, on your language skills and on where you want to be located, you will guide tours either in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi or eastern parts of the DR Congo. Please indicate your preferences.
About you
Educational background: You are the right person if you have a university degree, preferably in or with an emphasis on history, communications, African politics, development studies, tourism or any other applicable field of studies.
Experience: You are experienced in serving and/or working with people from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
Ideally you have served tourists already, preferably in an African context or in other developing countries. Furthermore it is a must that you can prove experience in and cultural sensitivity for both the Western and the African ways of living.
Skills and competencies: You are highly reliable and flexible. You like planning and organizing and you are experienced in using a computer, MS Office and the internet to do so.

The World Bank seeks to locally recruit a dynamic professional as a Poverty Economist to be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
This is a one (1) year Co-Terminous Appointment (subject to renewal depending on funding, performance and business need)
The key roles for the Poverty Economist include:
Economic analysis of growth and poverty reduction: The candidates will perform or supervise high quality analytical work using household and firm surveys in order to analyze household behavior and choices as they relate to poverty and the Millennium Development Goals.
The work will include the analysis of the impact of interventions and policy reforms on Poverty and Social Impact Analysis, the impact of public expenditures on poverty reduction as well as the design of improved data systems for poverty monitoring.
Implementation of Poverty Reduction Strategy Papers (PRSPs): All partner countries have a completed PRSP, and some are in the process of preparing a new poverty and growth strategy.
Due to the fact that the poverty reduction has been uneven and is threatened by the global economic crisis; evaluating the approach taken and the obstacles to effective implementation becomes even more essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to advise on ways to advocate for and facilitate the implementation poverty reducing policies, and ensure a better interaction between academia, civil society and implementing agencies such as ministries.
The successful candidate should hold a minimum of a Masters Degree or preferably PhD in Economics, with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience with a personal commitment to fight poverty. Extensive experience in household survey-based analysis of poverty.
Experience in the analysis of the macroeconomic aspects of poverty reduction, especially the link between PRSPs and the budget through Medium Term Expenditure Frameworks. Experience with related social and gender issues, design of household surveys, fiscal and debt sustainability and in the costing of Poverty Reduction, micro-macro simulation techniques, and/or in the analysis of the sources of growth is a plus.
