Working with the Training, Research and Development Department, and GIS and Remote Sensing Support team, the Lead Consultant Trainers and Consultant Trainers will design/Review/adapt and offer new and/or existing trainings for blended learning.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Facilitation, conducting research and providing guidance to participants.
• Participating in training curriculum development and training programs
• Adapt and apply appropriate pedagogic strategies and techniques, and principles of instructional design to create blended learning experiences for adult learners.
• Coordinating local and international training workshops
• Advise the department on the appropriate uses of GIS and Remote Sensing applications in blended learning contexts.
• Preparing reports.
Applicants for the position of Lead Consultant trainers must have a PhD in a GIS and Remote Sensing related area. Experience in Instructional Design will be an added advantage.
Candidates applying for the positions of Consultant Trainers Must have a Masters or higher in a GIS and Remote Sensing related area. In addition they must have excellent technology skills in Free and Open Source GIS and Remote Sensing software such as QGIS, ILWIS, PcRaster, Map Window and GRASS amongst others.
Knowledge of basic web programming, Google Maps API Family, GeoServer or MapServer, graphic manipulation, is essential for those applying for the Open Web GIS Training.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the incumbent will work on full time basis to provide administrative and programmatic support to the function
Major Duties and Functions

• Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
• Working knowledge of French will be an added advantage.

Main duties and responsibilities:
The Environment Officer will be responsible for region wide environmental oversight of the co-operation, policy concerns relating to the environment. He/she serves as the primary source of environmental policy expertise, guidance, direction and support to all LVRLAC programmes/interventions.
The Environment Officer serves as the chief point of contact with disaster recovery management for environmental guidance and support. The support takes the form of policy guidance, technical assistance, appropriate environmental review of disaster recovery projects and determination of environmental compliance with applicable regulations.
Key results areas are:

A Site Project Specialist is needed for the GEF/UNDP five-year project “Strengthening the Protected Area Network within the Eastern Montane Forest Hotspot of Kenya”.
The Site Support Specialist will ensure technical support for project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, facilitate stakeholders and collaborating partners to deliver targets and outputs while at the same time building capacities of stakeholders to execute project activities.
The Specialist will liaise with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Nature Kenya to ensure adherence to GEF, UNDP and Nature Kenya procedures including timely work-planning, implementation, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
The Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Nature Kenya Executive Director, and in addition s/he will work closely with UNDP and Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources staff, GEF visiting staff and evaluators and directors of KFS, KWS, KEFRI, NEMA and NMK and local administration.

The Site Support Specialist will ensure technical support for project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, facilitate stakeholders and collaborating partners to deliver targets and outputs while at the same time building capacities of stakeholders to execute project activities.

The candidate should be a strategic thinker and have the ability to integrate, conduct wide stakeholder consultations and create new investment modalities.

Project design work
• Initiate strategic planning for investment into small scale irrigation through WSTF.
• In cooperation with national partners. Ministry of Water and Irrigation, Ministry of Agriculture and National Irrigation Board, initiate and conduct negotiations on the partnership relations in order to establish a funding procedure for the irrigation investment for small scale farmers

The Institute is looking for a highly motivated, proactive and service-oriented individual to fill the following position based in Nairobi.
Climate Change Expert
The successful candidate will offer technical support in climate change research at the Institute.
He/she will report directly to the Director, Tegemeo Institute.
Key tasks under this position shall include:
• Assist in incorporating a clear research strategy on climate change into the Institute’s research agenda and the inclusion of relevant indicators to measure climate change impacts
• Build capacity for researchers at the Institute on climate change and related concepts such as vulnerability and risk assessment, adaptation & mitigation measures, and climate change modeling
• Backstop activities to be implemented under the climate change research, which includes providing support in the development of tools and methods in analyzing risk and vulnerability to climate change, impacts of climate change as well as adaptation and mitigation responses to climate change

Qualifications and skills
• Hold a PhD in environmental policy management/environmental sciences, natural resources management or a related field.

• For applicants with a PhD, a minimum of 3 years research work experience is required with at least
2 years research experience on climate change.
