Applications may be made to the Ludwigsburg University of Education starting in November 2010
International Education Management is one of four courses of study promoted by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in which ‘reform managers’ are trained. The objective is to increase the effectiveness of German development cooperation with Middle Eastern and North African countries and to ensure its sustainability.
The course will be held by the Ludwigsburg University of Education and Egypt’s Helwan University in cooperation with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and GTZ.
The course targets German and Arab technical and managerial staff in the field of education and development cooperation. They are to be enabled to initiate and successfully support reform processes. The primary objective is to develop intercultural management skills on both the German and Arab sides in order to promote dialogue between Europe and the Middle East. Course participants from Germany and from Arab countries will study together, alternately in Ludwigsburg and Cairo. This in-service course is designed to last for a term of four to six semesters and allows participants to continue working normally and to apply the acquired knowledge directly in their work.
Support given by BMZ adds to the attractiveness of the course. Participants enrolled in the first intakes will receive scholarships from DAAD covering both travel costs and accommodation. No tuition fees will be charged initially either.
Studies will begin with a preparatory period in July 2011; the first attendance phase will be in Ludwigsburg in October. Applications may be made as of November 2010.
