Utilities Kingston provides asset management, billing, and operational services to utilities in the water and wastewater, natural gas, and electricity industries. It also owns and operates appliance rental and fibre optic network businesses.
Systems Analyst
Primary Duties
Responsible for documenting and testing software applications. Responsible for developing, preparing and executing a software quality assurance plan. Develop and maintain test cases in Enterprise Architect using business requirements, use cases and change requests as input. Analyze test results to identify problem areas. Clearly communicate test results and errors/issues to project team. Record defects in an issue tracking systems (Bugzilla). Ensure all applications meet design specifications delivering high quality software. Provides application troubleshooting, development and support. Consults with business groups on supporting existing applications, reviewing and writing user requirements and recommending new software in consultation with individual client groups and overall organizational requirements.
Education, Licences/Certification and Other Qualifications
3-year Diploma or 4-year Degree from a recognized educational institution in the field of Information Systems or Computer Science.
A minimum of 3 years experience in a software quality assurance role. A minimum of 2 years experience in web based software development and testing, including all aspects of application support following the Software Development Lifecycle. Particular emphasis is required on software development using PL/SQL, Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Crystal Reports, database design, systems analysis and process design.
Software development exposure in Unified Modeling Language (UML) is desirable. Experience with Oracle in a Unix environment will be preferred. Knowledge of : Windows 2003-2008 Server, IIS. Skills in using Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory. Solid programming skills in the following programs: SQL, PL/SQL, XML, .NET are required. Sharepoint, Liferay, WCF and WPF is desirable, but not mandatory.
You are a team player, reliable, and have demonstrated a high level of initiative. You are able to self manage and prioritize work effectively under pressure.
