The National Council of Churches of Kenya, an umbrella organisation for Protestant Churches and Christian Organisations registered in Kenya, invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates, to fill the following positions:
Construction Technician
Dadaab Refugee Camp
Ref: CT - DRC
Reporting to the Sector Head, this position is responsible for providing technical guidance and supervision in shelter and infrastructure construction activities to a group of refugee community workers as well as providing technical support and supervision in sanitation and hygiene promotion activities.
This position involves making recommendations to the Supervisor on issues relating to the area of work. This is a residential non accompanied posting.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or equivalent
• Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering
• 3 years field experience in civil engineering/water and sanitation, preferably in humanitarian programmes in arid and semi arid areas.
• Advanced training in Water Sanitation or Public Health Engineering will be an additional advantage
Other Competencies
• Ability to use the current technology in building industry including drawing and designs using AutoCad
• Fluency in English and Kiswahili languages – working knowledge of another UN language is an added advantage
