Payroll Manager
Hours of work: Days (Monday-Friday; 10 shifts/2 weeks)

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Accounting Services and in keeping with Covenant Health missions and values, the Payroll Manager is responsible for providing leadership and direction for the payroll function for all Covenant Health sites. These functions include managing the processing of payroll information in compliance with contractual, legislative and organizational requirements; oversight for Local Authorities Pension Plan administration; and liaising with Canada Revenue Agency.

The Payroll Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining payroll policies and procedures. This position will make key decisions regarding changes to current payroll systems and will be the lead in the future consolidation of payroll systems across Covenant Health. This position provides functional direction, guidance and training to the payroll coordinator and payroll supervisors/administrators at all Covenant Health sites.

Qualifications:
University degree or a post-secondary diploma with a major in Commerce/Business is required.
Completion of Canadian Payroll Association Certificate Program for Payroll Managers is desired.
A combination of education and experience would also be considered.
Minimum 7- 10 years progressive payroll experience in an automated information system environment and a multiple affiliation setting required.
Knowledge and an in-depth understanding of Collective Agreements in order to maintain required scope of HRIS database is required.
Knowledge of payroll parameters, accounting procedures, legislative requirements and contractual interpretations is required.
Thorough working knowledge of computer software applications including Microsoft Office required.
Ability to handle inquiries and assignments with the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality,
Strong leadership skills and be able to prioritize and delegate effectively.
