The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) is currently recruiting for the position of Compliance Inspectors, in the Kitchener/Waterloo. Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council (OMVIC) is the industry’s self-management body and is made up of the 8,200 registered dealers in Ontario. As the administrative authority for the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act (MVDA), OMVIC enforces the registration requirements for motor vehicle dealers and salespersons in the province. OMVIC’s mandate and vision is to maintain a fair, safe and informed marketplace in Ontario.

Compliance Inspectors
Job Description The Compliance Inspector is responsible to ensure compliance to the Motor Vehicle Dealer Act (MVDA) and the Safety and Consumer Statutes Administration Act by all registered dealerships and salespersons in Ontario. On-site inspection of transactions and all related documents, bank statements, deposit books, cheque stubs, ledgers and all books of account in order to ensure completeness, disclosure, payment of relevant taxes and ongoing compliance with relevant legislation and regulations. Review general bank account and other related sheets, offers of purchase and sale, sales contracts, client ledgers, client agreements and other related documents for compliance with the regulations of the MVDA. Examine related documents and transactions

Qualifications:
* Accounting, auditing or law enforcement preferred.
* Self-motivated, able to work effectively independently as well as a member of a team.
* Excellent analytical, organizational, conflict resolution, written and verbal communication skills.
* Detailed oriented.
* Sound knowledge of MVDA, Safety and Consumer Statutes Administration Act, relevant sections of the Criminal Code and evidentiary requirements.
* Working knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
* Computer literate.
* Familiar with dealership environment an asset.
* Able to work from home and maintain a home office.
* Must hold a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license and own a vehicle and be willing to travel (which may involve overnight stays).
