Bilingual Administrative Assistant

Salary: $46,906 to $53,864 per annum
This is a permanent full time position, working 75 hours bi-weekly.
The French Language Services Directorate is a central agency which coordinates the development of the Government of Yukon’s French language services plan and negotiates its funding with the Government of Canada.
The main areas of activity include the development of policies and guidelines to facilitate service delivery, the provision of translation services and the allocation of funding to Government of Yukon departments and the reporting on the Government’s activities and expenditures on French language services


Essential Qualifications

• Successful completion of coursework in Office or Business Administration
• Experience in an office setting providing a variety of administrative, reception and clerical duties
• Experience producing documents and spreadsheets using a variety of MS tools such as MS Word and Excel
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

This position is the primary point of contact for the Directorate and will provide administrative support including minute taking at meetings, preparing correspondence, electronic and paper filing, liaising with the Minister’s office and attending to the many details required to keep an office running smoothly.
As the ideal candidate you are results oriented, flexible and take direction well. You will be able to work within a busy team environment, have strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills in both French and English. Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail and accuracy are required. You are able to produce high quality work in a timely manner and use tact and diplomacy when dealing with co-workers, clients and the general public. Excellent computer skills using various software programs such as MS Word and Excel are necessary to create word documents and spreadsheets.

Eligibility List: 6 months
English is the administrative language of work in Government of Yukon, therefore your resume must be submitted in English.
This is a bilingual position and the successful candidate will be required to pass a French proficiency test (oral and written).
