Simlaw Seeds Company Ltd. a wholly owned subsidiary of Kenya Seed Company seeks to recruit dynamic and creative professionals to fill the following positions:

Chief Accountant
Ref: SSC/AC/01/11

Responsible to the General Manager

Responsibilities
• Perform detailed cost and financial analyses
• Develop and interpret cost accounting information and make recommendations on efficient utilization of resources
• Timely preparation of financial and management accounts reports.
• Ensure compliance with the international accounting standards
• Review financial and internal control measures to meet management objectives.
• Review management practices and recommend changes to enhance operating efficiencies.
• Preparation of annual corporate budget.
• Ensure efficient implementation of the budget.
• Ensure effective Stock Management.
• Effective management of import/export accounts and ensuring timely payment of invoices.
• Ensure tax compliance as required by the regulations in force.
• Ensure timely remittance of statutory deductions.
• Facilitate company Audit Exercise.
• Manage forex transactions.
• Manage and guide the staff in the department

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor of commerce degree in accounting or Finance.
• Masters degree in business will be an added advantage.
• Holder of CPA(K) or ACCA with at least 5 years work experience in a busy commercial environment 3 of which must be in a senior management position.
• Must be a registered member of ICPAK.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge ¡n internal control systems and procedures
• Skill in the use of personal computers and related financial and statistical software products
• Skill in preparing management reports on a timely basis.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, good business acumen, good leadership skills with ability to motivate staff and a team player.
Chief Sales and Marketing Officer
Ref. SSC/SM/01/11

Responsible to the General Manager

Responsibilities
• Supervise and guide sales and marketing team
• Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies
• Oversee successful introduction of new products in the market
• Manage the processing of import/export orders
• Develop and maintain stock reorder system
• Develop and executive market penetration and retention strategies
• Drive the expansion strategy of the market by identifying and developing areas of growth.
• Review the distribution chain and recommend ways of making it more efficient
• Assist in the provision of technical advisory services to clients
• Prepare the departments’ annual budget
• Prepare the departments’ monthly and quarterly reports

Minimum requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Horticulture
• Must have Post graduate diploma in sales and marketing
• Masters degree in business related area is an added advantage
• 5 years experience in sales and marketing.
• Experience in marketing of horticultural products will be an added advantage.

• Knowledge in marketing management
• Knowledge in market research techniques
• Knowledge in customer profiling techniques
• Skills in brand development
• Skill in both verbal and written communication
• Ability to work for long hours with minimal supervision
Systems Administrator
Ref. SSC/IT/01/2010

Responsible to the General Manager

Responsibilities:

Systems Management
• Manage the roll-out and maintenance 01 system(s) with related components as per approved project plan(s)
• Oversee the testing and implementation of system(s) changes/enhancements.
• Periodically update approved system parameters
• Train users on system functionalities
• Develop/enhance specifications for system reports.
Policies & Procedures
• Develop IT policies, processes, procedures and controls that guarantee data accuracy and security
Network Management
• Oversee the implementation and management of the Company’s WAN.
• Oversee the process of network planning, design, development, deployment and modification
• Oversee the network administration role and provide guidance to the IT/ Network support staff
• Monitor and control the service levels of network suppliers and establish a list of monitored network activities
• Monitor bandwidth usage and determine the impact/ implication of related issues and recommend solutions to counter potential downtime

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
• Manage the disaster recovery process and ensure that disaster recovery plans for all ICT inventory and mainly network servers is adhered to

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree ¡n ICT
• Minimum 5 years experience in implementation of IT-based systems and ERP(s).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Thorough understanding of database management.
• Knowledge in network administration operations.
• Knowledge of business processes, budget preparation and implementation
• Self-driven individual with detailed problem solving approach,
• Decisive and strong people management skills.
• Team player
• Skills in both written & verbal communication.
Senior Procurement Officer
Ref. SSC/PO/01/2010

Responsible to the General Manager

Responsibilities
• Planning and coordination of procurement of supplies and services
• Implementation of the Company’s procurement regulations, systems and procedures
• Review and update approved procurement regulations and procedures
• Develop a procurement and disposal manual
• Preparation of procurement master plans
• Train user department on procurement procedures and regulations
• Coordinate the disposal of unserviceable and other stores as per laid down regulations
• Serve as secretary to the tender committee
• Ensure security and safety of stores

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Commerce or Business Administration.
• Higher National Diploma in Purchasing and Material Management
• 3 year experience in a busy organization
• A good performance certificate from previous employer
• Be a member of a professional procurement organization

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Thorough knowledge application of the Procurement and Disposal Act 2005
• High degree of integrity
• Ability to organize, and manage the company’s procurement activities within established deadlines.
• Ability to work as a team and set clear work objectives, schedules and performance standards to be achieved.
