Our client is a new online brand with an already-strong market position in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Comprehensively backed by significant listed international companies and investors, our client is poised for rapid growth and success.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Marketing Manager who can bring both strategic and tactical marketing skills in the exciting, hands-on high-growth online sector in Kenya.
The key objective of this role is managing and coordinating all marketing, advertising and product campaign activities including developing and implementing marketing plans as well as maintaining the corporate and product brand and communications plans.
This is a great opportunity to build an exciting consumer brand in East Africa from the ground up, as well as work across a broad range of marketing activities including brand development, campaigns, online & mobile, PR, social media, display, radio and other above the line media. The role will suit a candidate with a great balance of creative flair, passion, energy and commerciality.
The successful candidate will most importantly be a high-energy self-starter, comfortable working at the beginning in a relatively unstructured early stage environment where you will drive establishing process and relationships whilst achieving great outcomes. You’ll be able to comfortably balance a local Kenyan start-up online culture with the requirements of working with high performance, large scale international colleagues and parent companies.
Responsibilities include:
• Ensure campaign deliverables are met timely and efficiently.
• Delivery of agreed campaign outputs
• Growing brand awareness and conversion
• Management of budgets relating to campaign projects and activities.
• Maintain awareness of trends, business conditions and the changing landscape of the online market and competitors
• Manage communication and coordination of demand generation campaigns with third party suppliers/agencies.
• Manage and coordinate all marketing, advertising and promotional staff and activities.
• Make recommendations, advise on internal and external communication plans
• Make a significant contribution to the company at a management level
Wish List
• 5+ years of experience in product marketing.
• Tertiary qualification in Communications or Marketing.
• Strong PR background preferred.
• Proven experience assessing business goals, market requirements, customers, challenges, and use that knowledge for the formulation of marketing plan and the creation of nurturing streams.
• Strong project management skills
• Strong research and analytical skills
• Confidence in dealing with executives and presenting results.
• High energy, team player
• A can-do hands-on attitude comfortable working in a relatively unstructured early start-up environment
• Experience of managing agencies, SEO, SEM, Social Media and online display campaigns a major advantage
• Experience of working within a high performance multinational working culture
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong computer literacy including advanced Excel, Powerpoint and Online skills
• Passion for the online and mobile sectors in Kenya
