About the Programme
The Eastern Africa Criminal Justice Intiative seeks to raise awareness about International Criminal Justice Mechanisms and more specifically the International Criminal Court with the aim of empowering various stakeholders on how to engage with the processes and also influencing of policy making. The Initiative is implemented in 7 Eastern African Countries.
Job Description
• To work with the programme management team in designing strategic advocacy and policy documents
• To work with the programme management team in managing strategic relationships amongst the ICJ Kenya stakeholders
• Representing the organization at human rights meetings and conferences where designated to do so.
• To maintain close and constructive relationships with regional partners to ensure the smooth running of the program.
• To work with the programme management team in conducting research on emerging areas of concern.
• To compile monthly and quarterly program narrative reports.
• To edit donor reports and grant proposals to ensure that the format is consistent and adheres to donor guidelines, and that the information presented is grammatically correct, when necessary.
• To maintain and update fact sheets for EAICJI focus countries.
• To work with the programme management team in ensuring project learning and impact is effectively documented and communicated to key audiences and assist in the overall monitoring and evaluating programmatic activities
• To help in providing input to the international cooperation sections of the ICJ Kenya website
• To work with the programme management team to support fundraising effort
• To undertake other tasks as required by management.
Qualification
• Bachelor's degree in Law.
• Minimum 2 years of working in the human rights sector, NGO work.
• In-depth knowledge of situation of International Criminal Justice initiatives in Africa and the operations of the ICC.
• Knowledge on African Human Rights Systems.
• Experience in civil society capacity-building and network building.
• Experience in drafting and managing projects on organizing campaigns and advocacy initiatives.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Diplomatic and respectful manner and disposition in interacting with senior management, co-workers, grantees, partners, and other contacts.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders while maintaining close attention to detail
• Ability to be self directed with minimal supervision
• Ability to organize administrative details of proposal preparation and reporting to meet required deadlines.
• Excellent computer skills (proficient usage of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer) are required
• Strong editing, writing and communication skills in English
