For over 60 years, Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital has provided high standards of paedriatic health care in East and Central Africa exclusively to children from birth to 21 years of age.
We have a network of outpatient units in Nairobi with the main campus located in Muthaiga.
The hospital wishes to recruit dynamic and committed individuals to the following positions:
In Charge Radiographer
Ref: HRD001/02/2011
Reporting to the Chief Radiologist, the In Charge Radiographer will work closely with the clinical teams. He/she will be expected to operate imaging and photographic equipment to produce x-ray and other types of images that are used to aid in medical diagnoses and procedures.
His/her key responsibilities will include:
• Performing diagnostic examinations and produce x-ray and other types of images that are used to aid in medical diagnoses and procedures.
• Preparing patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure and ensuring their safety.
• Preparing work schedules, evaluating purchases and utilization of consumables including ensuring that all administrative aspects of the unit are well coordinated.
• In charge of the Safety, Quality Assurance and Control programmes in the unit.
• Co-ordinating and facilitating the integration of imaging services in outpatient units.
Knowledge, Skills and experience requirements:
• A Diploma in Medical Imaging sciences from KMTC or any other recognized institution.
• Minimum of three years in radiography and imaging one of which should be in a supervisory role.
• Experience in Pediatric Imaging will be an added advantage.
Radiographer
Ref: HRD002/02/2011
Reporting to the in charge radiographer, the radiographer will be responsible for taking x-rays or using other imaging equipment to get clear images.
He /She is expected to communicate effectively by explaining proper imaging procedures to patients, positioning patients correctly, and producing accurate x-rays and other images for good diagnostic outcomes and also ensuring patient safety while conducting these procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and experience requirements:
• A Diploma in Medical Imaging sciences from KMTC or any other recognized institution.
• Minimum of three years in radiography and imaging.
• Experience in Pediatric Imaging will be an added advantage.
These positions will mainly work with children, so it is expected that those interested should enjoy being around and dealing with children. A good understanding of computer systems and a thorough and general ability to work with technical diagnostic equipments is critical.
