General Manager Job Vacancy - International Media Management Position

An investment/holding company with 10 portfolio/subsidiary companies in Rwanda is looking for a high calibre candidate for the position of General Manager of its MEDIA broadcast, production and advertising business.

We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated and a hardworking manager, with a successful track record, who should be able to launch new media brands in a start up situation work and manage existing business lines for market dominance and profitability.

Attractive remuneration packages are available based on experience, interview results and other considerations.

Position: General Manager

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Holding Company

The ideal candidate should be experienced in managing a communication/media or related company and should be able to work independently with no supervision.

This person must have strong leadership skills and well organized, flexible and embrace the challenge of managing a big group of diverse people and businesses. Background in working in an investment or holding company will be helpful.

The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.

Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

Must have:
• Bachelors Degree in business administration or any related field, a Masters degree is added advantage,
• Managerial level experience with 5-10 years bottom line business responsibility for budget development, business operationalization and management, sales, financial and operational management of businesses.
• Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
• Budget development and oversight experience
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Not more than 42 years old

Key responsibilities include:
• Overall management of the business, which entails overseeing all departments and ensuring optimal use of company resources to enhance shareholder value through revenue maximization.
• Financial management and control, which will involve overseeing the accounting, budgeting, procurement and financial reporting processes.
• Timely submission and presentation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial/operational reports to the holding Company is a key deliverable.
• Development of the company's 5 year strategic plan and budget.
• Project coordination; planning, costing, implementation and monitoring of any projects that the company pursues.
• Human resource management; hiring and firing, mentoring, training and development of employees and handling of general employee issues.
• Ensure that departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) are set and met to satisfy the employer and the clients
• Ensure market competitiveness of the company's products through adherence to professional and industry regulations.
• Together with the Technical and Content Managers, design marketing and sales strategies and develop a market penetration plan for the company's products..
• Ensure tax compliance, best environmental and corporate governance practices including zero tolerance for corruption.
Languages - Must be fluent in English, working knowledge in French, or Kinyarwanda is added advantage but not a requirement.
