ASEA Secretariat Manager Job

The African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) was set up in 1993 and aims to promote the development of vibrant capital markets in Africa.

ASEA is seeking to recruit a dynamic and self driven Manager to step up the activities of the Association and to raise the profile of African Member Exchanges at the regional and international levels.

The Manager, to be based in Nairobi, will be recruited on contractual basis for an initial period of two (2) years, renewable upon satisfactory completion of the duties assigned.

Roles and Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the President of ASEA and ASEA Executive Committee, the Manager will be responsible for:
• Developing and implementing the ASEA strategy aimed at advancing the mission and objectives of the Association.
• Implementing the key initiatives and action plan defined by the ASEA Executive Committee.
• Planning, designing, coordinating and implementing comprehensive communication programmes aimed at providing information about ASEA to key players and stakeholders.
• Maintaining regular contact with media representatives and stakeholders to promote good public relations for ASEA and in addition, promptly responding to requests for information from the media, other stakeholders and the general public.
• Overseeing the management of the database and information system, including the ASEA website for the mutual benefit of members.
• Developing and implementing strategies for strengthening collaborative partnerships and networks with stakeholders, government agencies and other players to ensure implementation of programmes that enhance the performance of the African capital markets industry.
• Initiating and managing ASEA contractual obligations with partners and service providers.
• Managing the administrative functions of the Association.
• Doing all other things, not inconsistent with the foregoing, as shall promote the objects and purpose of ASEA.

Qualifications and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Business Administration or similar fields from a reputable university; a Masters degree will be an added advantage.
• At least one year’s experience in the securities or other financial services industry.
• Excellent knowledge of English. Working knowledge of French and/or Arabic will be an added advantage.
• Ability to take the initiative.
• Strong leadership skills including effective interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
• Working knowledge of media and technology including the internet and its proper utilization for communication, and promotion of the objectives of the organization.
• Ability to take personal responsibility for dealing with customers’ issues and concerns.
• Ability to maintain professional status and keep abreast of evolving trends in the securities industry.
