FilmAid International is a non-governmental organization that uses film to promote health, strengthen communities and enrich the lives of the world’s vulnerable and uprooted.
FilmAid is currently implementing programmes in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps in Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:
• Form messaging committees in Dadaab refugee camps comprising relevant stakeholders – UNHCR, implementing partners, GoK and refugee community representatives
• Meet regularly with FilmAid messaging committee in Dadaab refugee camps, which will comprise of members from the refugee community, UNHCR and partner agencies staff and involve them in all phases of the project. The program assistant will work closely with the script writer/drama director and other relevant program staff in discussing with the messaging committee various issues of concern and also identify approaches to addressing these problems within the communities.
• Conduct Focus Group Discussions with various members of the community – religious leaders, community leaders, youth (both in and out of school), women, girls, and parents on the topical issues
• Adapting information gathered from meetings with the messaging committee, focus group discussions and other reviewed data into film treatments and structures in consultation with the relevant Dadaab program staff.
• Design information and dissemination plans for the films developed to ensure coverage of all areas and variety of target groups
• Work closely with the Program Manager in providing regular updates of the production and dissemination through quantitative and qualitative reports.
• Assist in drafting and compiling monthly, annual and donor reports.
• Assist in the development of grant proposals
• Participate in the drafting of yearly workplans
• Research and acquisition of video content.
• Keep accurate master record of film and book libraries
• Conduct internet research on topics including best practices, fundraising, and other resources, to circulate to the field staff, and respond to other technical assistance requests.
• Focal point for field communications: coordinate newsletter ideas with country office, website information update, drafting communication materials, coordinate FilmAid’s participation in events, etc.
• Represent FilmAid in program meetings
• Work with the field staff in keeping accurate statistics of daytime and evening screening attendances
• Monitor and collect feedback on production and dissemination activities.
• Act as the liaison between FilmAid, the refugee community and other agencies in Dadaab on issues pertaining to information dissemination activities in Dadaab.
• Be familiar with both FilmAid and the Kenya Codes of conduct.
Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience
• Be of Kenyan nationality
• National Higher diploma in communication, social sciences, community development or other relevant discipline
• At least 3 years experience in program implementation, preferably with a development organization or humanitarian aid organization
• Excellent writing skills
• Internet research skills
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Access
• Ready to work for long hours in hardship areas
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Ready to work with minimal supervision. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Commitment to humanitarian principles and action
