Yakima Valley Community College students are invited to apply for National Science Foundation scholarships paid for by Washington State University. The scholarships are for 2010-11. The deadline to apply is Aug. 14.
The scholarships are for students pursuing four-year degrees in computer science, electrical or mechanical engineering and who plan to transfer to WSU, a news release said. Students planning to transfer to WSU Tri-Cities will be given preference.
High school students who plan to attend YVCC, who have participated in the Yakima Valley/Tri-Cities Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement (MESA) program and who plan to transfer to WSU also may apply, the release said.
Students must be enrolled at YVCC full-time, demonstrate financial need and academic potential and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or refugee alien, the release said.
